Welcome To Wolds Access

Wold Newton is a small village nestled in the Lincolnshire Wolds, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. We’re pretty much between the towns of Louth, Grimsby, Caistor and Market Rasen. The Wolds have been farmed for hundreds of years and have public footpaths, bridleways and permissive paths that offer stunning views across the whole county and out to sea.

Lots of people visit Wold Newton – walkers, cyclists, runners, and horse riders; returning throughout the year as the seasons change. For some, it is for exercise, sport, competition, or active leisure time. For many more, it is to appreciate the gentle pace of life here and to get close to the wildlife we share the land with. People come for the solitude and quietness of being out in nature, many more share their visits with families and friends. All are welcome. Throughout the year there is always something to bring us closer to nature – snowdrops, daffodils, pheasants, badgers, the first swallows, hedges strewn with berries, crisp Autumn leaves and the beauty of cold frosts and rime on the trees.

Many people struggle to get out and about in nature. It can be hard to climb hills, explore new places and navigate fields; and even more so when you’re not as fit, strong or mobile as you might like to be. But getting out and about can help with all sorts of challenges we face in life – giving us a change of scene, a new perspective, a sense of achievement and some time to be ourselves.

Our Project

At Wolds Access, we’re dedicated to caring for the local landscape, and to help people to enjoy it safely and responsibly. Watching the crops grow, the seasons change, and the leaves fall is wonderful. Seeing birds, insects, animals, and humans in this landscape is a joy.

Through the Lincolnshire Wolds Countryside Service, we have been awarded funding for two scooters for visitors and the local community to use in this beautiful place. We want to make it easy for you to enjoy our local area, and to see the changing landscape with your friends and family.

As well as funding the two scooters, the project has funded new gates throughout the farm. These open at the touch of a remote button and allow you to get around our farm area without needing to get out of the scooter. Powered by solar panels, they will make getting round the local trails much easier.

We have mapped our farmland and designed some trails that will help guide you round the area. These vary in length and terrain, and show you woodland, farmland and views out to sea. The trails will help you chose where to go, and how long it will take using the average speeds on the scooters. You’ll be welcome to stop, listen, explore and go at your own pace – the choice is yours.
